Villarosa in ICU for lung cancer Print E-mail

Mindoro Occidental Rep. Amelita Villarosa said yesterday her husband, convicted killer and former congressman Jose Villarosa, is not missing as reported by a newspaper (not The STAR).

“He’s recuperating at the intensive care unit of the Makati Medical Center after undergoing a major operation due to lung cancer,” she said.

She said her husband’s continued confinement in the hospital has the approval of Department of Justice and New Bilibid Prisons officials.

Earlier, in a radio interview, Rep. Villarosa, who is a House deputy speaker, said “it really amazed me how they can come up with irresponsible journalism.”

“They did not even validate their story,” she lamented. Prison officials allowed her husband last Dec. 7 to go to the Makati Medical Center for treatment. He reportedly had pneumonia.

Rep. Villarosa said she brought her husband to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City last Dec. 26 to undergo another test, but that they stayed there for only five hours.

She said justice and prison officials approved their trip to St. Luke’s.

She said doctors in the two hospitals discovered that her husband had lung cancer.
